Carbon Neutrality
Certified ZeroCarbon®

Our ZeroCarbon® Certification adheres to the globally recognized PAS 2060 Standard for Carbon Neutrality, published by the British Standards Institution (BSI). This certification can be awarded to any business entity, service, or product following a comprehensive Carbon Footprint assessment.
To achieve ZeroCarbon® status, clients must meet the following requirements:

-
Carbon Management Plan: Develop and implement a comprehensive Carbon Management Plan.

-
Third-Party Verification: Obtain independent third-party verification by SFG of both the Carbon Footprint and the Carbon Management Plan.

-
Carbon Offsets: Secure the requisite amount of registered Carbon Credits through globally accepted Carbon Registries to match the assessed Carbon Footprint.

Both the GHG quantification and the offsetting process are verified by SFG, ensuring compliance with the PAS 2060 Standard and our ZeroCarbon® Guidelines.
ZeroCarbon Hotel Stay™

The ZeroCarbon Hotel Stay™ Certification offers responsible travellers the opportunity to offset the emissions-related environmental impact of their hotel stays. This certification is designed specifically for the Hospitality and Tourism Industry, addressing the carbon footprint associated with energy consumption (fuel and electricity) and waste generation during an overnight stay.

Our ZeroCarbon Hotel Stay™ Guideline was developed in alignment with a study published by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and the World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO) in the Tourism in the Green Economy: Background Report. The guideline takes into account the global average hotel stay footprint across various sizes, star ratings, and room types, with an added buffer to ensure thoroughness.

By adopting the ZeroCarbon Hotel Stay™ Certification, hotels can offer their guests the option to neutralize the environmental impact of their stays, contributing to a more sustainable and eco-conscious travel experience.
Certified Carbon-Inset®

The Carbon-Inset® Certification is designed to recognize and independently verify significant emissions reduction initiatives within a business entity’s own value chain.
Unlike traditional Carbon Offsetting, which neutralizes GHG emissions through external projects, Carbon Insetting focuses on reducing or removing emissions internally or within the supply chain.

The Carbon-Inset® certification process involves three key steps:

GHG Assessment: Comprehensive GHG assessments are conducted for both the business entity (or product/service) and the selected Carbon Reduction/Removal Project. Recognized carbon standards are utilized, with the project developed to meet ISO 14064-2 criteria.

Independent Verification: SFG verifies the business entity’s GHG assessment and performs ISO 14064-2 validation/verification of the Carbon Reduction/Removal Project. Upon successful verification, the project is issued an ISO 14064-2 Validation/Verification Statement.

Issuance of Carbon Inset® Certification & Inset Registry Management: Following verification, the carbon footprint of the business entity (or product/service) is compensated using verified emission reductions (insets) from the Carbon Reduction/Removal Project. The Carbon Inset® Certification is then awarded, acknowledging the organization’s efforts in reducing or removing GHG emissions within its value chain. Inset retirements are managed within a customized carbon-inset registry.
